Food freedom
Why do I constantly think about food?
By Emily Smith
If you feel like you're constantly thinking about food, you are definitely not alone. It makes total sense that you are dealing with food noise, and it is so common.
Where food noise comes from
Our draw to food has nothing to do with the food. It has to do with what we've learned.
The constant food noise comes from learned habits where the nervous system and subconscious have learned food = relief, comfort, reward, happiness. Every time you restrict, it reinforces that you can't have something, so the brain says I want more of it, and that's all we are going to think about.
Why more rules don't fix it
So many approaches focus on thinking about food more, or don't actually address the root of why this is happening. It's about addressing the root.
It's possible to feel differently
How would it make you feel if you woke up one day and didn't have to think about food all the time? I struggled with this since high school, so I understand the pull towards food and how powerful it is, as well as the guilt, overthinking, and mental space it takes up. Healing is possible.
